LOFT55 July 5th 2026 @ The Barley Mow

Well then my friends that get to see these updates and or take note. Today I’m back with a little update from of all places ‘the road’ and what this means moving forwards.

Last Sunday I was invited to dj at The Barley Mow near Brighton by Ben Gill and we both agreed that bringing the rails out of retirement would be interesting. I initially thought no but a week before the day itself things kind of made sense and became clearer.

It’s two and a half years almost to the exact date that I called time on LOFT55 when I thought that was that as far as I could see it. Although the production had to stop temporarily with the spare physical items exchanged for ‘on demand only’ what was obvious was that my life doing pop ups and markets and the like had to completely end.  Way too financially risky holding stock and not what I got into this caper for. Therefore I took up cleaning and more or less put LOFT55 in hibernation or in other words, took it off the road.

Over these past years building back slowly to a re-entry point or as I call it ‘Chapter 2’ I’ve had time to think and plan. The question I ask myself being, what would I like LOFT55 to look and feel like in regard to authenticity, culture and delivery now things are continuing as a long-term option.

I come from two separate places when it comes to creative endeavours. One being providing a musical service as a dj/event host and the other with LOFT55 being a storekeeper. Both of which with the view to create a worthwhile and engaged experience for others. I’ve done the parties and I’ve done the pop ups so I’ve got the background and experience under my belt.

So, with these thoughts I’ve concluded that moving forward the physical real world / offline delivery of LOFT55 Clothing will now only happen with certain criteria attached. This being having a sound system with music played live on the decks in situ that captures both the musical side and retail experience of LOFT55 as one thing.

It won’t necessarily be a full-blown party out with the rails on the road but then again it could turn out that way and as such there’s nothing getting in the way of such things happening. Plus, what a way to go shopping for clobber getting sorted out by the dj as you pick an item out.

However, I’m now a bit battered physically due to my new line of work that has supported the return of LOFT55 so any occasion where I’m roadside doing the dj / storekeeping thing will be infrequent and as and when I feel ready with new stock to accompany all the music. Im in no rush and I expect nobody else is either which suits me fine as this idea will evolve organicially over time.

One thing is for sure, there isn’t anyone else in the music / retail world combining djing and storekeeping as one thing and that means things are moving forward in the right way for LOFT55 once again.
